DR. JENENE'S STORY
AFTER MAJORING IN MUSIC PERFORMANCE…
…and working as operations director for several symphony orchestras, I knew it was time to pivot and embark on a road less traveled. I had been an employee for non-profit performing arts organizations and often found myself in job positions where I wasn’t afforded much autonomy to contribute to change on a level that really mattered.
I learned my way around the contracts & collective bargaining agreements, the musicians’ and local unions’ parameters and regulations, and the struggle between both the orchestra musicians who prioritized artistry, and the governing board who prioritized finances.
I observed musicians rehearse eight times per week in three-hour sessions, sitting for most of their day with the insidious demands the instruments placed on their bodies, week after week, month after month. They exchanged weekends and holidays with their families for performance stress— that stress of being in the hot seat… putting the right notes in the right place at the right time… the accumulated stress of thoughts, traumas, and toxins. The worst part of my experience was witnessing those who were forced into early retirement because of health conditions that could have been prevented, reversed, or at very least slowed down.
The combination of stresses affects neurological changes, and always leads to the rapid and unnecessary onset of aging!
This also leads to the inevitable subpar standard of performance…
I DECIDED TO BECOME A CHIROPRACTOR.
I realized I could effect more change in the lives of musicians this way versus executing their staging logistics and planning their European tours.
That was fun, getting to work with stars like Yo-yo Ma, Idina Menzel, Stephen Spielberg and John Williams, the Indigo Girls, and so many others. I love these performers because they represent excellence. Imagine if they were adjusted regularly!
I fell in love with chiropractic and thought, “Why doesn’t everyone know about this?” I then decided I would marry my two loves— chiropractic with the performing arts.
If musicians saw a chiropractor regularly, they would have better motion, proprioception, posture, and a higher and more consistent performance caliber. They would play better, perform at higher levels, and not be forced into early retirement due to neurological changes that they didn’t even know were happening.
I mean, they’re just trying to make a living. They make music that heals people on a level almost nothing else can.
MUSICIANS ARE NOT BEING ADJUSTED REGULARLY.
If they were, the degenerative process would be slowed, like a magic anti-aging solution, and therefore less micro traumas from playing and technique positioning. And lastly, nerves would fire better, communication would be restored between the brain and spine and out to the periphery, and fine motor skills would be on point for longer practice and performance sessions.
A ha!
Now I am the owner and CEO at Sound Chiropractic, PLLC and I help musicians with nervous system connection and function.
It is my dream to disrupt an industry. My vision is to work with the New York Philharmonic, the MET Opera, J@LC, and Lincoln Center proper, New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, and other arts organizations, where I become their chiropractor. I have a space in their performance hall and make a difference in the world of the arts in a way that matters on a very deep level.
Can you imagine the explosion of innate expression this increase in human potential would birth after rockin’ the world’s artist’s collective atlas???
I have a penchant in my heart for serving musicians, artists, and creative types of all kinds. I also welcome music lovers and those in the LGBTQIA+ community and pledge to provide a safe space for care.
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.”

DR. VANESSA'S STORY
ON A FROSTY MORNING ON NEW YEAR’S DAY…
…in the midst of a raging snowstorm, destiny had a grand entrance in mind for me. In a quaint house, where hard work abounded, I took my first breath. But my journey into this world was far from ordinary. Born prematurely at home (on a bunk bed), nearly three months before my due date and weighing in at only three pounds, I made my way into the world early and fast. With the snowflakes dancing outside, my mother, my aunt, and grandmother, filled the bedroom with both fear and hope. Each passing moment felt like an eternity as they waited for first responders to arrive, their hearts heavy with worry. Along the way, my tiny body fought against the odds, slipping away three times, only to be revived by my sheer determination for life. A remarkable story unfolded—a story of resilience, determination, and a lifelong passion for healing. This is the tale of how I, against all odds, became a chiropractor.
At the hospital, days turned into weeks, and the weeks into months, as I battled through the challenges of being a preemie. My tiny body grew stronger with each passing day, and the indomitable spirit within me continued to shine through. Nearly six weeks passed before I would go home.
As I entered my formative years, a deep sense of gratitude for the healing hands that saved my life began to take root within me. I marveled at the human body’s resilience and its capacity for healing. My insatiable curiosity led me down a path of exploration, and I discovered the profound impact of chiropractic care—a holistic approach to healthcare that aligned with my own beliefs.
ORIGINALLY FROM LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK…
and raised by my paternal grandparents of whom raised my vibration and love for the arts and theatre, I grew up under the umbrella of an aging household with appreciation of the aging process. On the other side of the coin, I am the one that can usually be found at the kids table, where my love for kids is bright and evident. Fueled by my own experience and passion for the healing arts, I embarked on a journey of education and personal growth. All ages of the lifecycle can benefit from healing hands! I was dedicated to studying the intricacies of the human body, eager to unlock the secrets of its alignment and well-being. Countless hours were spent pouring over textbooks, attending lectures, and immersing myself in hands-on training.
It’s now been three years since I walked across the stage, receiving my Doctor of Chiropractic degree and I find myself welcoming opportunities to receive practice members with open arms, just as the first responders, doctors and nurses did when I was born. It is my promise to make a marked difference every day.
As a young athlete, I believed what didn’t kill you made you stronger. I was raised in a family with “knuckle head” uncles who treated me like one of the guys from the Firehouse. I was thrown across yards and dove head first into pools. I achieved a black belt in Taekwondo at the age of 10. Bruised and scraped knees were a badge of honor I wore running down the block to a friend’s house. We ran around until the light posts lit up and pedaled our bikes hard like we were racing toward something. As I adjust the spines and touch the lives of countless individuals, my story serves as a testament to…
THE HUMAN SPIRIT’S CAPACITY TO OVERCOME ADVERSITY.
Like my uncles of the FDNY, I took the Philadelphia fire department test and was offered an opportunity, but it was overshadowed by my journey to become a chiropractor. I dreamt of saving lives for as long as I could remember. I have found one of the most powerful, best kept secrets to anti-aging on the planet. This is what happens when human potential is unleashed with a force to the spine. I am forever grateful and ready to serve.
I have a love for theater and the performing arts, and I can often be found singing alone in the shower to my favorite musical soundtracks. I remember when “Don’t ask, don’t tell” was a reality for service members and those wanting to enlist. An entire community of people for whom I wished to serve were being asked to hide not only themselves but their beautiful families. My door is always open to those in the LGBTQIA+ community and we pledge to provide a safe space for care in our brick and mortar.
And with each adjustment, I honor my own journey, forever grateful for the opportunity to be a healer—a chiropractor who touches lives and restores hope, just as it was done for me on that snowy New Year’s Day.

The Sound Story
Enhancing Performance and Preventing Injuries
Musicians, while dedicated to their craft, often face a range of physical challenges that can lead to injuries and discomfort. These conditions not only affect the musicians’ ability to perform at their best but can also jeopardize their long-term career.
Chiropractic care plays a critical role in prevention, reversal, and support of these conditions. Prevention is the best approach, of course! Chiropractic adjustments directly affect the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord), and therefore improve joint mobility, alleviate muscle tension, and promote overall spinal health.
We offer guidance for posture, body awareness, and ergonomics to reduce the risk of injuries. Techniques such as soft tissue mobilization and therapeutic exercises may be employed to enhance flexibility and strength, providing musicians with the physical resilience needed for their demanding profession.
Chiropractic care, when integrated into a holistic wellness plan, can contribute to the well-being of professional musicians, promoting both physical and mental health in their pursuit of artistic excellence!
